  • Evidence Technician Course - FULL

This course will cover photography, fingerprint processing techniques, crime scene searching and sketching, evidence packing, collectiong physical evidence, pattern impressions, DNA, biologicals and sexual assaults, shooting incident reconstruction, death scenes; management and processing. Grant Funded by WisDOJ Training and Standards.

  • Defense Technologies 4-Day ICP Course

    Course Description: The complete program consists of the following 4 unique Certificate of completions: OC AEROSOL PROJECTORS, SPECIALTY IMPACT MUNITIONS, CHEMICAL MUNITIONS AND DISTRACTION DEVICES. Attendance of these programs will enable the student to continue in-service training for their department by providing both the technical and tactical information needed for effective product use. This program will cover a wide range of integrated use of force options enhancing officer safety and support courtroom testimony. Students may attend all or any combination of the four programs. Upon successful completion Defense Technology will issue a certificate of completion to the student as an Instructor in the appropriate subject. Each attendee must be physically fit for duty and able to perform the physical skills associated with tactical applications with the use of these products. This certificate of completion is valid for 2 calendar years from course completion.

  • Jail Suicide Assessment, Prevention and Postvention

    Course Description: This course examines the problem of jail suicides, and presents the latest information on how to best assess and screen an inmate for suicide risk. Suicide prevention plans are presented as well as effective crisis communication techniques for dealing with an inmate who is suicidal. Emotional de-escalation steps are covered. Models for debriefing are also discussed for use in the aftermath of a suicide. Training includes discussion, group exercises and powerful video scenario vignettes.

    Prerequisites: Greg Young is a Chaplain/Debriefer with Germantown Police Department. He is a trainer for the International Critical Incident Stress Foundation as well as an ILEETA Trainer.

  • Crowd Control – Basic

    Course Description: This is a 3-day basic riot control class. Students will need to bring the following equipment with them to class: riot protective gear, helmet with face shield, 26” wood baton, air purifying respirator (gas mask), and riot gloves. Students should dress for the weather as class will be outside rain or shine.

  • Room Clearing

    Course Description: This 16-hour course will be introduced in two separate parts. The course is
    designed for officers with any level of experience. Day 1 will be dedicated to building clearing techniques. Officers will learn several techniques to safely clear buildings using proper room clearing methods. Day 2 will be building clearing with the assistance of police canine. Students will be exposed to room clearing using a canine off line as well as long line. Students will work as a team with the handler and dog to observe canine behaviors during techniques. Scenarios will include locating a suspect in a building and actual physical apprehension.

    Prerequisites: Students will need to bring duty belt with weapon, ballistic vest, long gun, flashlight, and any K-9 equipment (if applicable). Wear comfortable clothing.

    Course Description: This one day course is designed for the LE Instructor who conducts high-level training that may include: Defensive Tactics, Firearms, SWAT and Simulations. The goal of this course is to teach the LE Instructor how to properly handle medical emergencies that may occur during training.

    · Team health and special needs officer
    · Penetrating Injuries (gunshot wounds)
    · Blunt trauma (less lethal injuries)
    · OC, CS, lightning and taser injuries
    · Hyperthermia and hypothermia (signs & risk factors)
    · Anaphylactic shock (bee stings), snake bites and tick removal
    · Dislocated joints, broken bones (splinting and stabilization)
    · Emergency bandages & tourniquets
    · Range/Classroom EMS kits

  • Low Light/Laser Instructor

    Course Description:
    This course will explore the tactical advantages of laser sighting system. Developed to provide the instructor with techniques and drills to train department personnel with laser sights. More than 60% of officer-involved shootings occur between 6:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m. This course is designed for LEO Firearms Instructors to instruct their officers to gain skills and develop an ability to win a confrontation during low light situations. Students must pass a written test, live fire standards drills and instructor evaluations to successfully complete the course.

    • Eyesight during low light
    • Management of flashlights/fashlight techniques
    • Firearm mounted lights
    • Back lighting
    • Night sights/lasers
    • Tactical use of light
    • Instructor development
    • Safety issues
    • Use of Polar heart rate monitors

    Prerequisites: Required equipment: wraparound eye protection, ear protection brimmed hat, vest, flashlight, sidearm, safe holster, 3 magazines and a shotgun. Streamlight flashlights will be available for selected models of pistols for use at this course. Please call prior to make arrangements.
