Dane County Sheriff’s deputies were able to recover a stolen vehicle over the weekend, thanks in part to Flock cameras.

Dane County dispatch alerted law enforcement to a stolen vehicle in the area of CTH CV and Packers Avenue in the town of Burke, after it was seen on Flock cameras (a car tracking system used to detect vehicles entered as stolen, connected to missing and endangered persons, AMBER alerts, Silver Alerts, etc.). A short time later a deputy found the stolen Infinity Q50 at a residence on Larry Lane.

The driver, Martell I. Nicholson, age 23 of Madison, was arrested for Operating a Motor Vehicle Without Owner’s Consent, 2 counts of Felony Bail Jumping and 2 counts of Possession of Narcotics. The Infinity had been reported stolen from Hertz Rental out of Chicago on September 5th.

The Dane County Sheriff’s Office has been operating a pilot program with Flock Safety for the last year. “Flock cameras provide us with real-time intelligence which has proven to be an extremely useful tool in apprehending offenders peacefully, solving crimes and helping to locate missing/endangered people,” said Sheriff Kalvin Barrett.
